Basic of Conventional Cytogenetics and FISH and their application

A hands on training workshop was organised by Association of Pathology of FMHS & Faculty of Allied Health Sciences on 28th March 09:30 onwards. Workshop was attended by all the faculty members and Post Graduate students from department of Pathology, FDS & Pathology students of  Allied Health Sciences. The workshop was conducted by Dr. Monika Gupta, Professor, department of Pathology, PGIMS Rohtak. Her fields of interest are Hematopathology, flowcytometry, cancer cytogenetics and molecular diagnostics for diagnosis/ treatment/ monitoring of tumours. The Workshop was graced by Dr. Reena Nayyar (Executive director), Dr. SPS Kochar, Dean FMHS, Dr. Ejaz Hussain, Dean FAHS.

The first part of workshop was devoted to explaining the basic principle of cytogenetics & fluorescent in situ hybridisation (FISH). This was followed by an interactive session in which interesting cases were discussed on which cytogenetics & FISH Technique were employed to reach a definitive diagnosis

Newer applications of cytogenetics & fluorescent in situ hybridisation (FISH were also discussed. Overall it was enriching experience for the junior faculty and PG Students.
