Feedback on Hands on workshop on Infection Control Practices for prevention of surgery site infections

A hand on training workshop was organised by department of Microbiology on 10th December at 02:00 PM. Workshop was attended by all the faculty members, Post graduate students, infection control nurses, surgery Doctors &PG’s, nursing staff. Number of attendees were 26 The workshop was conducted by Dr Pratibha Kale (MBBS, MD, DNB, MNAMS Microbiology), Professor, Department of Microbiology, Institute of Liver & biliary Sciences (ILBS), New Delhi. Dr. Pratibha Kale has a vast hand on experience of more than 17 years in diagnostics Microbiology and Molecular biology and Hospital infection control. She is NABH assessor & co coordinator of FRCS exam.

The first part of workshop was devoted to explaining the various surgical site infections and infection control practices to prevent it. This was followed by an interactive session on how to track surgery patients for infection, when to collect samples &prophylactic antibiotics.

Overall it was enriching experience for the junior faculty, ICN’s &PG Students.
