Department of Pulmonary Medicine
The Department of Pulmonary Medicine, SGT University, headed by Dr.(Prof) Dharampal Singh Sudan. The department, which is in its 10th year of inception, takes pride in its excellent faculty profile, academic endeavors, research activities and patient care.The department is actively involved in imparting theoretical as well as clinical knowledge to both undergraduate and postgraduate students.
The department runs as OPD 6 days a week and Special Clinics on designated days. It has 30 bedded indoor facilities for admission. The Department also renders emergency care round the clock, along with consultation liaison with other departments. Average daily OPD is 65 and bed occupancy is 100% .
Department Overview:
The Department of Pulmonary Medicine at SGT Medical College Hospital and Research Institute was established more than a decade ago to deal with diseases affecting the respiratory system. with world class facilities which include OPD’s Ward’s (IPD) respiratory intensive emergency care unit (RICU) par excellence and pool of talented doctors, a vast number of respiratory diseases are managed and treated every day.
To ensure complete and round the clock patient care, the department is equipped with all the necessary latest equipment and facilities including Bronchoscopy with Biopsy, Intercostal Tube Drainage, and Complete Spirometry including Diffusion study, Sleep Study, pleural biopsy and USG / CT guided procedures.
The Microbiology laboratory is also fully equipped for all investigations including culture and drug sensitivity for mycobacterium under National Tuberculosis Elimination Program (NTEP) and DOTS. Besides this, there is also a fully equipped histopathology lab to assist in the diagnosis of the disease.
Cartridge Based Nucleic Acid Amplification Test (CBNAAT) is also available from March 2019.
The Department of Pulmonary Medicine is strives to be the best in the country by ensuring the availability of proper treatment & patient care. To ensure this, the department is actively involved in research, academic updation, and equipment up gradation from time to time
