About
Dr MPS Sawhney joined SGT Medical College, Hospital and Research Institute, Gurgaon on 11 Aug 2014 as HOD & Prof, Department of Dermatology and Venereology, after retiring from Indian Armed Forces (after 36 years of service).
A graduate from UCMS Delhi and post-graduate from AFMC Pune, he has been a meritorious student all along. He stood second in his Second and Final MBBS examination from his college and got distinction in Pharmacology. He topped in Pune University in MD examination and was awarded BB Gokhale Award from the University in 1986.
He is a recognized teacher of Pune University and Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Nasik, Paper setter & examiner DVD and MD (Derm&Ven) examination of Pune University, since Jul 2002 and MUHS since Jul 2009. He has been Inspector for Accreditation for DNB (National Board of Examination) and Professor and Guide for DNB students at Base Hospital, Delhi Cantt. wef Nov 2004 to 01 Jul 2009. He was appointed HOD and Professor (Dermatology & Venereology) at Army College of Medical Sciences, Delhi Cantt wef 01 Apr 2008.
A keen researcher and academician, he has 67 publications in various National and International journals to his credit. He has been presenting papers, giving guest lectures and chairing sessions in various scientific forum regularly. For his academic excellence, he was awarded ‘Fulford Oration Award’ for “High Altitude Dermatology” at 30th National Conference of Indian Assoc of Dermatologists Venereologists and Leprologists on 26th Jan 02. His biography has been included in ‘Marquis Who’s Who in Science and Engineering’ 2004-2005 and 2006-2007 edition, ‘Marquis Who’s Who in the World’ 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009 ed, ‘Marquis Who’s Who in Asia’ 2007 ed and ‘2000 outstanding Scientist of the 21st Century’ 2005 ed for achievements in Dermatology.
